Volunteer Accounting/Finance Instructor

Summary

 

We are looking for an Accounting/Finance Instructor to prepare and conduct student training courses on Accounting/Finance skills and proper computer usage.

 

The following characteristics will be present in the perfect candidate for this position:

 

 

Assisting with course development of Accounting and Finance courses required for the program.

 

Providing effective instruction to students by preparing for each learning experience, providing supplemental materials to enhance lessons, and using effective evaluation methods to evaluate student performance in courses.

 

Staying current in the field and teaching methodology by meeting or exceeding all institutional professional development guidelines, and participating in professional online development workshops and seminars.

 

Maintaining accurate records such as attendance, grades, information for accreditation, and other important data and submitting reports according to school policies.

 

Supporting student learning outside the classroom by holding regular office hours, providing information about additional resources, and responding to emails and phone calls in a timely manner to promote student success.

 

Participating in program advisory committees, attending departmental meetings, and serving as backup for other faculty members.

 

Promoting the success of the school by participating in standing committees and following school professional and ethical guidelines.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Master's degree in Accounting or a master's degree and 20 graduate credit hours in Accounting.

  • Experience teaching introductory and advanced accounting courses.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Teaching experience in higher education.

  • Online teaching experience.

  • Teaching a variety of courses in Accounting based on qualifications through an accredited degree and work experience.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Developing Accounting and Finance courses.

  • Teaching a variety of Accounting courses and maintaining proper record keeping.

  • Creating and carrying out lesson plans to ensure industry-relevant content in courses.

  • Assessing student learning outcomes.

  • Recruiting and advising students.

  • Assessing enrollment trends and gathering feedback from evaluations and observations for continuous improvement with class lectures, content, and student success.

  • Developing course syllabi and classroom content evaluation tools.

  • Assisting with student advising, planning, and recruiting.

  • Carrying out other duties as assigned.

     

Supervision:

 

The position reports to the Department Head of Accounting and Business Administration and will work in conjunction with the curriculum program.

 

Work Schedule:

 

Based upon assigned class schedules which may include days, evenings, weekends, and break periods as required.

Physical Abilities: Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person, over the computer, and on the phone; seeing to read and prepare lessons; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment; kneeling, bending of the waist, and reaching overhead to write on the whiteboard.
